Traveling Family & Teacher Resource Center

CCRI's mobile lending library (funded by Smart Start of Mecklenburg County and the Cabarrus County Partnership for Children) offers a collection of parenting and child development materials and family support information for families and early care and education/school-age child care professionals in Mecklenburg and Cabarrus Counties.

The Resource Centers make monthly visits to centrally-located sites in Mecklenburg and Cabarrus Counties.  All materials are available to visitors on a monthly loan basis, and a Child Care Resources’ specialist is always on-hand to help with selections, talk about child-related issues and make referrals to other community resources.

Resource Center
Educational materials for early care and education professionals and families. Toys and equipment are available on loan to member child care programs.

           

Toy Lending Library
Collections of age-appropriate books for classroom use, made possible courtesy of Child Care Resources Inc. with funding by Smart Start of Mecklenburg County and the Cabarrus County Partnership for Children.

Deposit Collections

• Books - on subjects relating to early care & education and parenting including ages and stages, discipline, curriculum & activities, literacy, brain development, sibling rivalry, special needs children and other topics              
• Video & audio - on child development and parenting issues to use for staff and parent training or for individual checkout. Music and movement activities are also available.     
• Tip Sheets - easy-to-use tips on a range of child development and child care topics.  
• Newsletters - information and training opportunities from issues of Taking Care, The Daily Parent, and the Region 7 Child Care Resource & Referral Training Calendar.            
• Activity Kits - materials and ideas to enhance teacher/child interaction and discovery  
• Literacy Kits - kits containing a book and related activities for classroom or home use
• Leaflets and flyers - relating to parenting and child development issues
