Steps to receiving child care financial assistance in Mecklenburg County:
Call Child Care Resources Inc.’s Child Care Search service at (704) 348-2181. A parent counselor will talk with you about the child care subsidy program and answer any questions you may have.
If the parent counselor can determine that you are eligible based on initial eligibility guidelines and child care subsidy funding is available, you will be given an appointment to make a formal application to determine if you are eligible for child care subsidy.
If the demand for child care subsidy is greater than available funding, your child’s name will be placed on a waiting list. If funding is available, you will be contacted and given the opportunity to come to Child Care Resources Inc. to complete a formal application.
During your appointment, you will meet with one of Child Care Resources Inc.’s Child Care Financial Aid Case Managers and be required to provide written documentation (check stubs, wage forms, school schedule, etc.) that will be used to determine if you are eligible for child care subsidy assistance. If you are eligible for child care subsidy assistance, you will receive a voucher to help you pay for the cost of child care.
If you are approved for child care subsidy, you must select a legally operating early-education program (child care center, family child care, etc.) that participates in the child care subsidy program.
Remember, choosing an early care and education program is one of the most critical decisions you will make.
