Financial Aid Programs for Child Care Programs & Professionals

Child Care Subsidy Program

Child Care Resources Inc. administers the child care subsidy programs for Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services, Smart Start of Mecklenburg County and others. Through these programs,eligible families receive financial assistance to help them afford child care services that meet their needs. This program is available to qualified parents who are employed and/or in school and who meet program income eligibility requirements.

Child Care Resources:

  • provides quality customer service to child care programs serving subsidized children
  • provides ongoing program administration and payments to child care program operators participating in the subsidy program

Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)

Child Care Resources Inc. serves as the area’s premier sponsor of the federally funded Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). As an extension of the National School Lunch Act, CACFP assists family child care homes with the cost of providing nutritious meals and snacks and improving the quality of nutrition and eating habits of children.

Lana Sullivan Early Childhood Scholarship Fund

This fund was established in honor and memory of Lana Sullivan, a Child Development Specialist who worked with Child Care Resources Inc. and died suddenly on October 27, 2002 at the age of 33. Each year, one $2,000 scholarship is awarded to a child care center to provide support for staff members taking courses beyond basic credentials. Two $250 scholarships for family child care homes will also be awarded. The funds may be used for tuition, books and wage reimbursement for work time lost while taking the course(s). Funds may be used during one semester or throughout the academic year. All applicants must complete an application to be considered for a scholarship.
